PyBTLS 2001–

Python Bridge Traffic Load Simulation — short-to-medium span traffic modelling and load-effect engine. Implements a range of traffic generation models and simulates responses from arbitrary influence lines, with runs of thousands of years. Recently open-sourced.

Applied systems

HVSAPS 2023–

Heavy Vehicle Structural Assessment Permit System. Our structural analysis engine is the core of Victoria’s automated heavy-vehicle permit system, run through the NHVR Go portal, with the front end and validation by WSP and DTP as lead agency. It automates up to 85% of structural assessments for Class 1 and PBS permits. Launched January 2026: 4,000+ assessments, approvals cut from months to days, and bridge-assessment fees removed.

Vehicle Assessment Tool (VAT) 2015–

Used daily by Victorian DTP engineers to determine permit-vehicle access, producing vehicle responses and capacity-envelope comparisons.

SimBA 2008–

Simulation for Bridge Assessment — discrete-time, continuous-space traffic microsimulation (Intelligent Driver Model) for long-span bridge loading; supports dozens of journal papers.
